My current work - just for fun!

They are all beginners in mosic - aren't people's creative minds and hands so amazing?

  • very interesting to see works in progress. you don't have to wear gloves?

  • Hi Dana, gloves when grouting yes... some most of these will be ungrouted mosaics though.

  • So wonderful to see you are having so much fun with your mosaics and being creative. Best thing I love when teaching mosaics is the pure joy in a persons face when they have completed their first mosaic. Safety and using masks and goggles should be taught when mosaicing as the main problem is that fine glass and cement dust in the air as you know. Take care and enjoy your mosaic fun. P.S. I had fun looking at your mosaics and they show your enthusiasm for mosaics. Well done and congrats on your award for the Owl, he is gorgeous!!
I have taught many Children's art/mosaic classes over the last 23years and I love to leave lots of bright colour felt around cut into all different shapes...use a black larger piece of felt for the background and let them play and make a mosaic by laying on the felt bits.(I think I have some pics on my Flickr site of some children with felt mosaics.) They can pull apart and re-do patterns as many times as they like and when one is their favorite you can glue it together and frame it.
